Daybeats Privacy Policy

Daybeats (“the app”) is a journaling app made by allThatTools, an independent developer based in the Republic of Korea (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the app handles, where it goes, and the choices you have.

The short version: Daybeats has no account system and we run no servers. Your entries, photos, and places are stored on your device. We never see your journal. Some features rely on services from Google, Apple, and RevenueCat, and the free version shows ads — those parts are described below.

1. Information stored on your device

The following stays on your device, in the app’s private storage:

We do not collect, upload, or have access to this information. It is removed when you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Deleted entries go to the in-app trash first and are removed for good after 30 days, or when you empty the trash.

Your operating system may include this data in device backups you have turned on — iCloud Backup on iOS, or Android Backup to your Google account. On Android, photos are excluded from this automatic backup. These backups are managed by Apple or Google under your account settings.

2. Permissions the app asks for

All permissions are optional. The app keeps working if you say no; only the related feature is unavailable.

Permission Why When
Location (while using the app) To attach where you were to an entry Only when you write an entry or pick a place
Camera To take a photo for an entry Only when you choose to take a photo
Photos To attach photos, or save an entry’s photos to your library Only when you choose to
Notifications To show the journaling reminders you set At the times you choose
Face ID / fingerprint To unlock the app when app lock is on When you open the app

Biometric checks are done by your device’s operating system. The app only receives a yes/no result and never has access to your face or fingerprint data.

3. Services from other companies

Some features send limited information to other companies so the feature can work. Each company handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Maps (Google Maps Platform)

When you open a map, the app loads map images from Google. Google receives the map area being shown (which can include an entry’s location), your device’s IP address, and basic device information. — Google Privacy Policy

Address lookup (Apple or Google)

To turn coordinates into a place name, or to search for an address, the app uses your device’s built-in geocoding service: Apple on iOS, Google on Android. The coordinates or search text are sent to that service. — Apple Privacy Policy

Google Drive backup (optional)

If you turn on Google Drive backup, you sign in with your Google account and allow Daybeats to use a hidden app folder in your own Google Drive (the drive.appdata permission). Backup files — your entries, photos, and settings — are stored there, in your account. Daybeats cannot see any other files in your Drive, and we never receive your backups. You can disconnect in the app at any time, or delete the app’s data in Google Drive under Settings → Manage apps.

Daybeats’ use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google account data is used only to back up and restore your journal, and is not used for advertising or shared with anyone.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads.

Daybeats Premium removes ads. Your journal content is never shared with advertisers. — How Google uses information from apps that use its services

Purchases (Apple, Google, RevenueCat)

Payments for Daybeats Premium are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We never receive your payment card details.

We use RevenueCat to confirm purchases and restore them on your devices. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated by the app, your purchase history and receipts, and basic device and app information (such as the app version, country, and language). It does not receive your journal content. — RevenueCat Privacy Policy

4. What we do not do

If this changes, we will update this policy before the change takes effect.

5. International transfers

Google and RevenueCat may process information in the United States and other countries. They protect it under their own privacy commitments, such as standard contractual clauses.

6. Children

Daybeats is not directed at children under 13 (under 14 in the Republic of Korea), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, US state privacy laws, or Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information. Because we do not hold your journal data, most requests are best handled in the app or with the service provider above. For anything else, contact us — we will reply within 30 days.

8. Security

Your journal stays in the app’s private storage on your device. You can add another layer of protection with app lock (Face ID, fingerprint, or your device passcode). Backups you export as files, or save to Google Drive, are protected by your device and your Google account, so please keep them secure.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. For significant changes, we will also let you know in the app.
